Lufthansa B744 near Mumbai on Aug 23rd 2014, flaps problem
A Lufthansa Boeing 747-400, registration D-ABVO performing flight LH-757 from Mumbai (India) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) with 350 people on board, was climbing out of Mumbai when the crew stopped the climb at FL200 due to problems retracting the flaps, entered a hold to work the related checklists and decided to return to Mumbai. The aircraft dumped fuel and landed safely back in Mumbai about 130 minutes after departure.
The aircraft was repaired and reached Frankfurt with a delay of 33 hours.
The airline confirmed issues with the flaps requiring spare parts to be flown in from Germany.
