Katastrofa Dash 8-400 w Nepalu – zapis korespondencji ATC

12 marca, Dash 8-400 (znaki rejestracyjne S2-AGU), należący do US-Bangla Airlines – prywatnego przewoźnika Bangladeszu, rozbił się w pobliżu lotniska w Katmandu. Na pokładzie statku powietrznego znajdowało się ok. 71 osób (67 pasażerów i czterech członków załogi). Wypadek przeżyły 22 osoby.

Zgodnie z zapisem opublikowanej w Internecie korespondencji załogi z ATC, piloci otrzymali zgodę na lądowanie na pasie 02, ale poprosili o zmianę pasa na 20, czyli lądowanie z przeciwnego kierunku. Wieża w tym czasie poinformowała, że na prostej do 02 znajduje się inny samolot i nakazała S2-AGU oczekiwanie na zgodę na lądowanie. Samolot stanął w holdingu ok. 3 km na północ od portu lotniczego.

O godz. 14.25 UTC, Dash 8-400 manewrując na małej wysokości spadł na boisko piłkarskie w pobliżu lotniska i się zapalił. 14 marca, z wraku samolotu zostały wyciągnięte czarne skrzynki i została powołana specjalna komisja, której zadaniem będzie wyjaśnienie przyczyn zdarzenia.
