Jazz DH8C near Port Hardy on Dec 5th 2013, both engines surged in flight

A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-GNON performing flight QK-8503 from Sandspit,BC to Vancouver,BC (Canada), was enroute near Port Hardy,BC (Canada) when both engines (PW123B) began surging. The crew decided to divert to Port Hardy where the aircraft landed safely.

After landing the captain told emergency services he suspected bad fuel, they had fueled in Sandspit, after departure the gauges were fluctuating and the engines began to sputter.

The Canadian TSB reported, that both engines were surging. The flight data recorders were pulled for analysis. Maintenance dried and cleaned a number of electrical connectors, ground run the engines with no fault and returned the aircraft to service, there was no recurrence in the following days.
