Hawaiian B763 near Oakland on Aug 28th 2014, maintenance issue

A Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N583HA performing flight HA-45 from San Jose,CA to Kahului,HI (USA), was enroute at FL330 about 150nm southwest of San Jose,CA (USA) when the crew requested to divert to Oakland reporting a maintenance issue. The aircraft descended normally to 10,000 feet to burn off fuel. The aircraft entered a hold for about 50 minutes to burn off fuel. The aircraft landed safely on Oakland's runway 30 about 110 minutes after departure.

The passengers were told the repair would be done in an hour, then two, then three, then four, then the repair would take over night leaving a party of 15, including the father of the bride, travelling to attend a wedding nerveous to not be able to arrive in time.

A replacement Boeing 767-300 registration N590HA departed the following morning at 05:30L, about 19 hours after landing, and reached Kahului with a delay of 20 hours. The party of 15 reached the wedding in time.
