Gol B738 at Sao Paulo on Apr 1st 2014, flaps problem
A Gol Linhas Aereas Boeing 737-800, registration PR-GGJ performing flight G3-1371 from Cuiaba,MT to Sao Paulo Congonhas,SP (Brazil), aborted the approach to Congonhas Airport at about 3000 feet due to a problem with the flaps. The crew decided to divert to Viracopos Airport where the aircraft landed safely on runway 33 at a slightly higher than normal speed about 25 minutes later.
The airline confirmed the aircraft diverted to Viracopos Airport due to flaps problem that prevented a safe landing on Congonhas Airport's runways (length about 1,940 meters/6400 feet). The passengers were subsequently bussed to Congonhas Airport.
Viracopos' runway features a length of 3240 meters/10,600 feet.
