Atlas A321 near Izmir on Jun 9th 2014, hydraulic failure

An Atlas Air Airbus A321-200, registration TC-ATF performing flight KK-1031 from Ercan (Cyprus) to Izmir (Turkey), suffered a hydraulic failure shortly after reaching cruise level after climbing out of Ercan. The crew continued the flight to Izmir requesting to be towed off the runway due to the associated failure of the nose wheel steering. The aircraft landed safely in Izmir and was towed to the apron.

Passengers reported, that the crew announced one of the engines had failed and the aircraft had flown all the way from Ercan to Izmir on one engine.

The airline stated a hydraulic failure occurred enroute which caused the nose wheel steering to not be available after landing. The aircraft was towed to the terminal. The passengers obviously misunderstood the crew announcements advising the passengers of a hydraulic failure and believed an engine had been shut down.
