American B752 near New York on Feb 24th 2014, anti ice problems
An American Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N190AA performing flight AA-94 from New York JFK,NY (USA) to Madrid,SP (Spain), was climbing through FL320 out of New York when the crew decided to return to New York due to an indication of a problem with an anti-ice system. The aircraft kept fast on the approach prompting controllers to anticipate the aircraft "sort of floating" through the extended runway center line while aligning with the extended runway 31L center line and vectoring other aircraft aligning for runway 31R out of the way. During the approach the crew requested emergency services on stand by, they were expecting hot brakes. The aircraft landed safely on runway 31L about 70 minutes after departure, turned off the runway and stopped requesting emergency services to check the brakes.
The aircraft was able to depart JFK Airport again after about 3 hours on the ground and reached Madrid with a delay of 3:10 hours.
