Aer Caribe AN26 at San Jose del Gua on Jul 6th 2014, nose gear did not extend and runway excursion
An Aer Caribe Antonov AN-26, registration HK4728 performing a charter freight flight to San Jose del Guaviare (Colombia) carrying four tons of explosives under military guard, was on approach to San Jose del Gua when the crew was not able to extend the nose gear. All attempts to lower the nose gear failed forcing the crew to perform a nose gear up landing. The aircraft positioned for a landing on runway 19, touched down safely but subsequently veered right off the runway and came to a stop right off the runway with all gear on soft ground.
Colombia's Grupo de Investigacion de Accidentes & Incidentes Aereos (GRIAA) tweeted the accident occured at SKSJ (San Jose del Gua) on Jul 6th 2014 at 15:14Z (20:14L), an investigation has been opened.
